OBSERVATIONS
I experimented with various poses and angles that revealed different facets of the model's personality. This created a powerful stance, conveying confidence and attitude and making direct eye contact with the viewer. Changing the light source and angles created more dramatic shadows and highlights, emphasising the model's features and creating a sense of depth and dimension. I also included implied cultural symbols with the headscarf to add an element of storytelling.

SCENE SET UP
For the first time, I set up a home studio with a black backdrop to provide a strong contrast, creating more emphasis on my model. I chose a two-light setup: a key light with a softbox and a fill light with an umbrella, preventing harsh shadows to create a flattering look. I shot around the 80mm range to have a portrait perspective and focus on the subject. I always checked and made sure that my model was in focus and used a camera flash to keep my ISO setting as low as possible to maximise the quality of the image.
